Our campground is comprised of 49 sites and situated on 14.5 acres adjacent to the shores of Lake Superior, located near the intersection of the North Shore Scenic Byway and the Superior National Forest Scenic Byway. Situated in the heart of the North Shore, the Black Beach Campground is an hour's drive north of Duluth, following Highway 61 and only 50 miles south of Grand Marais. If traveling from the Iron Range cities (Biwabik, Eveleth, Gilbert and Virginia) our campground is approximately 60 miles east from Highway 53 when taking Highway 16/Forest Highway 11 towards Silver Bay. The campground's location makes it the ideal basecamp for those looking to explore the wonders of the North Shore.

Check In Procedure
- Check in: 2:00 PM.
- Check out: 12:00 PM.
- While each park attempts to accommodate your exact spot request, the on-site manager has the ultimate decision for spot placement.
Quiet Hours
- 10:00 PM - 8:00 AM.
Campground Standards Policy
- First and foremost, be respectful; everyone wants to have a good time at Black Beach Campground.
- If you are under 18, you must camp with a parent/guardian.
- Young children are to be accompanied by a parent/guardian at the playground.
- Clotheslines are allowed as long as they are under your camper awning.
- Do not disturb vegetation (i.e., remove branches, sticks, or bark from trees for use of fire or roasting).
- Do not feed any animals that would have potential of making a mess of the campground.
- Exterior camper lights must be turned off at 10:00 p.m. except for one security light.
- If you are asked to leave because of your behavior, there are no refunds.
- Permission from the office is required prior to moving to a new site.
- No site alterations.
- Non-reserved sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Solicitation of any kind is not allowed.
Speed Limit
- Drive slowly through the campground - speeds should be no greater than 10 mph or walking speed.
Waste Policy
- Sewer rings are required to hook up to our sewer system.
- State health guidelines state no dumping of gray water at Electric only sites.
- Thanks for complying.
- Please pick up after yourself and help keep facilities clean.
- This includes flushing toilets, shutting off water faucets in the showers and bathroom sinks, properly disposing of garbage, picking up your site before you leave, and reporting any damage to property.
- Fire rings are not to be used as a garbage can.
Pet Policy
- All pets must be accompanied by the owner.
- Leashes need to be 6-feet or less and must be secured by owner when off-site or attached to a secured device that the animal cannot pull away from.
- Please clean up after your pet.
- Walk your dog outside of sites and keep your pets quiet.
- If you are asked to leave because of animal nuisance, we are unable to provide a refund.
- Pets are not allowed in shower rooms.
Safety Policy
- We are not liable for loss, theft, injury, or damage to people or property.
- Fires are only allowed in the available fire rings and must be attended.
- We only allow certified firewood.
- Only purchase wood with the state certification tag or from the campground office for $6/bundles, or discounted to $5/bundle when purchasing 3 or more bundles at a time.
- Fireworks are not allowed in the campground or Black Beach Park.
- Park at your own risk.
- The City of Silver Bay is not responsible for damage or theft to vehicles, trailers, trailer contents, or any other personal property.
Vehicle Policy
- One small RV, or one large tent/two small tents, and one vehicle are allowed per sites 1-15.
- One RV, one tent, and one vehicle are allowed per sites 16-49.
- All ATV's, boats, trailers, etc...must be parked in dirt parking pad.
- No parking on grass.
- Overflow parking area must be paid in advance or cleared through the campground office.
- Extra vehicles or tents are an added fee and must be paid in advance or cleared through the campground office.
- We ask that you do not wash ATVs at your campsite.
- There is an ATV washing station in town at J&H Auto.
- All unauthorized vehicles, including, but not limited to:
- 1) any vehicle left unattended after checkout time on the expected date of departure;
- 2) any vehicle parked on grass within the campground;
- 3) any vehicle parked in excess of the 1 vehicle limit per campsite;
- 4) any vehicle parked in a campsite not reserved in their name; or,
- 5) Any vehicle parked in a no-parking zone will be towed at the owner’s expense.
Fish Cleaning
- Fish cleaning facilities are located at the Silver Bay Marina.
- We ask that you clean your fish there and not at your campsite.
- If not checked out by 12:00 p.m. (noon) on the date of departure, the City of Silver Bay reserves the right to assess a $20 per hour penalty for each hour past 12:00 p.m. (noon) and you may be charged with trespassing or theft of services.
- Furthermore, if your property is not vacated from the site by 4:00 p.m. on the date of departure, the City of Silver Bay reserves the right to remove your property at the owner's/guests on file’s expense.
- If you anticipate a late departure, please call our office at 218-226-1825 or email blackbeachcampground@silverbay.com prior to the 12:00 p.m. (noon) departure time.
COVID-19 Policy
- The City of Silver Bay follows the State of Minnesota CDC guidelines.

- City staff maintain social distancing when possible, wash hands often, and wear face coverings when appropriate.
Cancellation Policy
MODERATE
If the guest cancels at least 1 week before your check-in day and time, they will receive a full refund (minus Spot2Nite convenience or resort fees). If the guest cancels within the 1 week before check-in, there will be no refund.
